"When a glitch occurs in the making of time, precious seconds can condense into solid form."
— Time Factory Worker's Safety Guide, Blinx: The Time Sweeper

Time Crystals are small glitches in time that have gained a solid form. They are present in both Blinx: The Time Sweeper and Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space.

Time Crystal Combinations from Blinx: The Time Sweeper

Blinx: The Time Sweeper[]

Time Crystals are found in six different forms and colours; said colours showing the Time Control the crystal represents. The shapes Time Crystals can be found in are red hearts (Retry), blue crescents (Pause), purple crosses (Rewind), orange pyramids (Fast-Forward), yellow stars (Slow) and green diamonds (Record). They can be found either throughout the stages on their own, or obtained as a result of defeating Time Monsters or a member of the Tom Tom Gang. They play a major plot role, as they form the Bosses and the huge amount of Time Monsters that de-stabilise the time flow of world B1Q64 (as a result of the Tom Tom Gang greedily stealing massive amounts of Time Crystals), forcing all Time Sweepers but Blinx to abandon the world.

In Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Time Crystals must be collected in a certain order and number in a set of four, or else they will be lost. For example, three blue Pause crystals plus one of any other type equals one Pause Time Control. Four of the same crystals equals two Time Controls. However, if three or more of the crystals do not match, then all four crystals are lost and Blinx must find more crystals to try for correct crystal combinations.

Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space[]

In the sequel, Time Crystals retain their colours, but are now in the shape of the Time Control that each one represents. Excess Time Crystals, as well as remaining Time Controls, can be exchanged for Gold after the end of every Round; Crystals being worth 10G each. A certain Time Crystal, otherwise known as the Big Crystal, has a plot-important role as it's destruction, caused unwillingly by Benito, throws all of existence towards a path of total destruction.

Earning Time Controls[]

Unlike in Blinx 1, Time Crystals can now be collected in any order, and each crystal will count towards the Controls they represent. Also, only three of the same crystal type is needed for a control, though it is no longer possible to earn two of the same Time Control with four crystals.
